Cross Country

“On your marks, get set, go!” We were away! The year eight boys had started their race and it was going to be a good one. Henri and Declan were already in front and I had to keep up with them if I was going to get a good placing.

As soon as we went around the whole lake and just about to go up the daunting, steep hill, Jacques overtook me and I became very exhausted and had legs as wobbly as jelly. Somehow I found the power to keep going up the hill even though I was about to collapse and faint.

As I ran over the bridge I sprinted as hard as I could towards the finish line. It was exhilarating with the wind at my back and my house cheering me on.

When I crossed the finish line I had nothing left at all. I knew I had given it my all and left nothing on the track.

I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t get a top three placing but at least I was in the top six and my Mum was proud of me, and that was all I could ask for.

Winter

Winter poetry

Winter brings a misty fog rising over the mountains.

Winter brings a chilly cold breeze swiftly swaying the dull and leaf-less trees.

As winter brings a pure white blanket of snow, the cold green grass is screaming and shouting for winter to end.

Winter brings numb, pale white feet as they stand on the slippery, slushy grass.

Winter brings a cloudy, white sky with a rare chance of the sun coming out and melting the ice on the rooftops.

Winter brings a frosty snow that falls soundlessly to the ground.

Winter brings a family together as they sit around the fire drinking mugs of tasty hot chocolate, watching the embers glow.

Spring is waiting patiently for its chance, ready to spoil winters dance.

Camp

Whooooosh! The wind caught my sail as I was heading to a boat called Typhoon. I steered with the tiller as Peter was shouting out orders"tiller to the sail! Tiller to the sail!"

As I turned around to go to the red playground the wind picked up and one side of my boat was off the water, so I quickly changed sides and let go of the rope, whew! I was saved.

We kept on sailing with the wind and over the small waves in the water.
As I was heading for the red playground I heard a splash and looked behind me to see Henry T in the water, he had capsized! The good thing was he didn't panic and Mrs Knowles got to him straight away.

Sailing was really fun and hard work being alone but everyone had a great time in there boat.

My work day

My Work Day

I got out of bed feeling tired but excited about my workday. It was going to be a long day I thought, but it was worth it just to go on camp.
When we arrived at the orchard my dad got an apple bin with the tractor and moved it down the row of apple trees.
I started picking the apples, it was tough but I could handle it. Thirty minutes later I had finished my first bin, twenty bucks sweet!
I was on to my second bin, I was feeling confident and I was zooming away.
Soon I had made sixty dollars. When I had finished my third bin we had lunch and then we went to the house next door, which was my dads friends house and did firewood.
We used the wood splitter to split the wood and then we put it on the truck. We then went to drop it off at a friend’s house.
It was a hard days work but I had finally finished and I had made one hundred dollars, I was feeling stoked with how much I had made and it would be much easier for my parents to pay for camp.

Preseason Training

Last night after our Basketball game, Henri F, Rory M, Dan C, Jacques B, Campbell T, and I went to preseason training at Lake Te Koutu. There were also kids from Cambridge Middle School. We went for a long run going up tracks which was really hard and tiring but we did it.

We then went up the steps about five times before going back down, Jacques tripped and fell down the stairs! After that we went for a 3km run with Henri F leading. When we had finished the run we played a game of touch between the fowards and backs. We drew 3 all.

My holidays

Hi room 6

This is my holiday,

During the new years and Christmas I went to our beach house in Whitianga and we went out to the Coromandel. We went to this bay called double bay and we stopped there to have a picnic, it was a beautiful place and we went snorkeling and found some kina which are really sharp but you can eat them, they tasted really salty and creamy.I then went to climb on the rocks to try and find some crabs and when I was on a rock in the shallow water I went to step off and I nearly stepped on a stingray! It was a really fun holiday and I enjoyed it.
